2  Today I will find quotients of word problems involving multi-digit divisors.  Today I will review key vocabulary that pertains to division.  Today I will learn how to interpret the remainders of division problems in real-life situations.

4  Each lifeboat holds 4 people and we have 22 people. We would need 6 lifeboats to carry all the people to safety – not 5 R2 lifeboats. (so round up!)  If you are measuring to divide a 19 inch piece of fabric into 5 inch pieces, how many pieces can you cut? 3 – 5 inch pieces not 3 R4. You would just use the remaining 4 inches for something else or discard the extra.

5  Working with your group, you will solve the round robin division problems. Be sure and sign your name for each problem that you solve. You will be passing your paper to the person to your left in your group.  Please raise your hand if you have questions!!  All work will be collected!

10  Go to page 23 of your MSG.  Let’s work the first Silly Sally problem together.  Tonight, work the 2 nd Silly Sally problem and STUDY for your Long Division Quiz tomorrow. Long division, word problems and the terms quotient, divisor and dividend will be on the quiz.
