2 Euphony (noun) DEF: pleasing or sweet sound. RELATED PARTS OF SPEECH: Euphonic, adj. Euphonically, adv. EX. SENTENCE: “Any word which was difficult to utter [...] was held to be [...] a bad word; occasionally, therefore, for the sake of euphony, extra letters were inserted into a word.”

3 Ambivalence (Noun) DEF: Simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or feelings, or uncertainty as to which way to follow. RELATED PARTS OF SPEECH: Ambivalent, adj. Ambivalently, adv. EX. SENTENCE: “Other words, again, were ambivalent, having the connotation of ‘good’ when applied to the Party and ‘bad’ when applied to its enemies.”

10 Heresy (Noun) DEF: Deviation from an accepted, dominant theory, opinion, or practice. RELATED PARTS OF SPEECH: Heretical, Adj. Heretically, Adv. EXAMPLE SENTENCE: A heretical thought was any thought that diverged from the principles of Ingsoc.

11 Aberration (noun) DEF: A deviation from the norm. RELATED PARTS OF SPEECH: Aberrant, adj. EX. SENTENCE: For the good student, receiving such a low score on a quiz was an aberration.
