11. Post War After Leaving Iwo Jima the 5 th Division returned to Hawaii to reorganize and training for the invasion of Japan. The 5 th Division was part of the occupation of Japan assigned to the Naval base at Sasebo. Don was discharged from the Marine Corps on 12 Jan. 1946 at Great Lakes, Mi. Don was a Pastor for 46 years. His last church was in Tucson Az.
