Leicestershire - Inspiring Pupils with Dyslexia 2013 My name is Billy. Im 10 years old. I am good at most sports & have lots of mates. I also have a learning difference - dyslexia.
Lots of famous and talented people have dyslexia too! Can you name anyone here?
Billys Quiz Thumbs up = True / Thumbs down = False Only 1 or 2 people in this school have dyslexia? You can tell someone has dyslexia by looking at them? Sometimes a person with dyslexia is forgetful? A person with dyslexia has good ideas?
The word Dyslexia means – difficulty with words. Some people think its just about reading and writing... its not!
So, what is dyslexia - and can you catch it?
I was born with dyslexia …... and I like to be an inventor. My dad has dyslexia too. I have to work harder at school - - thats a challenge and I love challenges!
How does my dyslexia affect me? Ive been slower to get going with reading Sometimes I forget things, I make lists to help me remember stuff Im really good at sports and design.
The good things my dyslexia gives me. Thinking up new ideas! Solving problems... I have a vivid imagination I love finding out about how things work What are YOU good at?
Successful sports people can also be dyslexic... some are Olympic gold medalists. Do you know who?
Youre Fired! Sir Alan Sugar – he is good at making lots of maybe because he has dyslexia he is more determined
