1 Shiloh Point 2010-2011

2 I graduated from Piedmont College in 2004. I also have a Masters in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. This is my seventh year teaching. My first year teaching I taught k-5 technology integration. I taught second grade for four years. This is my second year in kindergarten and I love it!

5 During Calendar. We cover many of the math standards. We learn the days of the week, counting, number writing, money, months of the year, and many other things.

6 We use Cindy Cupp Phonics. The Dr. Cupp Readers® Series teaches basic sight vocabulary and explicit phonics through exciting games and wonderful stories. It is very helpful to have parents help during this part of the day. If you are available any day from 9- 10 please sign up in the back before you leave. Thank You!

7 This year you will see your child become a writer. They will start by labeling pictures and in a couple months they will be writing sentences about their pictures!

8 If you would like to join us for lunch you are welcome to! We eat at 11:05. Our table is full this year,so you and your child will get to eat on the stage.

9 The math program used by Forsyth County public schools is by Houghton Mifflin. This program spirals with its content areas throughout the year, which means that concepts are continually revisited during the year and in later grades.

10 We have weekly themes that are science or social studies related. The upcoming theme can be found on our newsletter. If you have pictures, books or other theme related materials feel free to send them in to class.
