1 3 rd Grade Homework MENU September Using index cards or paper, create a set of multiplication “flash cards” that we can use in our Math Facts center. Make sure to include the answers on the back! Make a matching game or sorting game using observations and inferences. For example matching - the car is wet (observation), it must have rained (inference) would go together. Or you can do the same two and sort which one is an observation and which is an inference. Design a t-shirt for a book that you feel other students would enjoy. Include a 4 -step sequence of events from the story. Expect to display the t- shirt and book for a week. (Doesn’t have to be a real t-shirt) Develop a quiz that focuses on distinguishing complete sentences from incomplete sentences. The format is up to you (multiple choice, use editing marks on prepared sentences, etc.). Other students may get to take your quiz. Create an array for 10 multiplication problems of your choice by gluing macaroni or beans to a piece of paper. (or anything else that will work.) We have the Scientific Method rap. Make up your own rap about observing vs. inferencing video it and send it to Mrs. Mattox through email. Or be prepared to sing it out loud in front of the class.. Create a bookmark for a book you have chosen to read. Include the title of the book, 5 questions about the story, and decorate the bookmark. Return book and completed bookmark to school so that it can be used as a station for other students. The bookmark should be at least 6 inches long and include legible print. Questions should be able to be answered. Include an answer key for your questions. Seal it in an envelope, labeled with your name and the book title.. Select a "just right" fictional book. Read the book and record the book title, main character's name, setting, problem, and resolution onto a poster. Expect to share posters before an audience. Posters should be legible and bold.. Locate 10-20 examples of capitalization from environmental print (advertisements, newspapers, magazines, etc.). Display these on a poster. Please arrange the environmental print in categories (proper nouns, book titles, beginning of sentences and dialogue in quotation marks). Create a brochure informing other students of the characteristics of a complete sentence. Be sure to cover: a sentence has a complete idea, capitalization at the beginning, and punctuation at the end. Drinks Appetizers Main Course Desserts Please choose 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 main courses, and 2 desserts. You should have a total of four (8) options completed. Due Wednesday, September 30 th. On a piece of paper draw 10 bar diagrams and fill them in with the multiplication sentences of your choice. Don’t forget to write out the product as well. Example: 9x4=36 Name: ___________________________ Make observations on 3 different objects, write clues about them and let a friend see if they can figure out what the objects were based on your observations. The friend must sign your clue sheet. 9 99 9
