2 Intel ISEF 2012 – Educator Academy 2 High Level Goals Long term goals (2014-2015) –Introduce a systemic change in the K-12 education enhancing inquiry-methods in STEM-education –To raise awareness on the importance and value of science and technology among students, teachers, government officials and parents –Increase the number of students choosing to continue their education in technical universities and to follow carriers in the field of science and engineering Short term goals (2012-2013) –Develop the legal and methodological framework for holding Belarus Science Fair –Launch an Intel ISEF affiliated fair –Start a pilot Belarus Science Fair according to the framework and guidelines provided by Intel ISEF

3 Intel ISEF 2012 – Educator Academy 3 Objectives The legal framework for holding Belarus Science Fair to be approved by the Ministry of Education of Belarus (MoE) Belarus Science Fair 2012/13 is affiliated by Intel ISEF Pilot Belarus Science Fair is held in 2012/13 in two Belarusian regions, by 2014/15 it becomes national ## of teacher trained in Project Based Learning (or Inquiry research): 2012/13 – 25 MTs; 2013/14 – 500 Ts; 2014/15 – 2500 Ts; ## of projects presented at the fair: 2012/13 – 50 projects; 2013/14 –75; 2014/15 – 150; ## of school participating in the fair: 2012/13 – 5 schools; 2013/14 – 10; 2014/15 – 50; Sustainable Fair funding is in place ## of visitors of Belarus Science Fair web-site increases by 50% annually The pool of Belarus Science Fair experts and judges is created and includes not less than 25 representatives

Holding a national workshop (Developing STEM-education in Belarus) for officials from MoE, Academy of Sciences, Hi-Tech Park (HTP), Universities The roadmap to implement Belarus Science Fair is approved HTPJune-July 2012 Developing the web-site of Belarus Science Fair, translation of the guidelines into the Russian language Belarus Science Fair web- site is created and contains all the info needed in Russian on all the procedures for participants HTPSeptember - October 2012 Holding workshops for teachers (net-promoters) 25 MTs engaged & promoting Fair HTP, MoESeptember - October 2012

9 Intel ISEF 2012 – Educator Academy 9 Intel ISEF Educator Academy As a result of our participation in the 2012 Educator Academy, we were most impressed by: All the materials (reports, templates, etc.) were immediately there on the web-site to follow – it was really very convenient We had a wonderful opportunity to talk to our colleagues informally during the Happy Hours A special room was equipped for us to comfortably work together on our Action Plans The time was observed strictly in accordance with the agenda The Shop Talks of the following speakers were the most beneficial for our team: Ofer Ramon (Israel), Cora Beth Abel (USA), Jack Frachetti (USA), Jon Price (New Mexico), Karen Merrill (USA), Sharon Snyder (USA), Shelly Shott (USA),. –In general, Intel ISEF 2012 Educator Academy was a great job, thanks to the organizers we really enjoyed our stay here.
