1. State supports employment The State Council announced a series of stimulus packages to boost the employment to fresh college graduates to combat the worsening employment situation this year. Government departments and organs and state-run enterprises are required to recruit more new employees than last year.

2. Qingming or Thanksgiving? Qingming is popularly associated with Jie Zidui in the Spring and Autumn Period, who saved his starving lord’s life by serving meat cut from his own leg. The lord, known as Jinwengong, was later able to take power and decided to reward Jie out of a forest by fire but instead burned him to death and felt deep regret. He ordered all his people to ban the use of fire and eat cold food that day to mark Jie’s death. It is the origin of the Cold Food Festival, which starts one or two days before Qingming and later merges with Qingming. Qingming then became an important holiday from a simple farming day.

3. The first moon flower A US firm that has designed habitats for plants and animals living in microgravity now hopes to grow the first flowers on the moon, the company’s founders announced. Engineering firm Paragon Space Development plans to build a greenhouse to fly to the moon. The greenhouse will be used to incubate fast- growing custard seeds( 芥菜籽 ) on the lunar surface, in the hopes of producing flowering plants over the lunar surface.

4. Dogs look like their owners People can guess quite successfully what breed of dog a person own just by looking at the owner, a new study in the UK finds. A group of 70 people were asked to match photos of 41 dog owners to 3 possible breeds. 50- 60% of the people matched correctly, 33% higher than expected.
