5 Subjects (Group 1) Basics of soil science - Soil genesis, properties and soil functions, (soil pH and redox properties, sorption and cation exchange, anion exchange) - Soil erosion and soil structure, soil water - Soil protection and legislative requirements

6 Subjects (Group 2) Pollutants in soil Inorganic pollutants, organic pollutants, risk assessment, binding and mobility of inorganic pollutants, binding and mobility of organic pollutants, bioavailability and toxicity

7 Subjects (Group 3) Case studies - Radionuclides contamination with focus on 137 Cs derived from the Tschernobyl fallout - Heavy metal contamination in historic mining areas - Waste rock piles – renaturation and possible contaminations of soils - N-input to forest soils

8 Subjects (Group 4) Application - Compost application to soils - Liquid manure application to farmland - Sewage sludge application to soils

9 Preparation of presentation Overview through literature research Focusing on the subject: Short overview about total subject More detail about selected areas No more slights than minutes for the presentation
