3 Purpose of the Sixth Form Study in a successful learning community Contribute to the life of the school Gain high quality qualifications Mature intellectually and personally

4 A levels 2011: a successful 6 th Form 53% A*- B grades Over 1000 QCA points and 400 UCAS points per student Well above average for grammar schools in Kent and Medway

5 Minimum entry requirements Five GCSE passes at grades A*- C of which four should be at least grade B Four B grades and one C grade the normal minimum entry requirement English and Maths at C or higher a necessity for jobs and university Need to aim high for A*/A grades

6 Prepare now for future success Work, develop and achieve in Y11 Be keen to learn and ask questions Have a good attitude to school Be the best that you can be

7 Courses offered GCE Advanced courses Year 12 - AS Year 13 - A2 AS combines with A2 to make a full A level

8 UCAS points system for full A level Grade A* 140 points Grade A 120 points Grade B 100 points Grade C 80 points Grade D 60 points Grade E 40 points AS grades score half of the points above

9 Course combinations Most universities require: 4 AS courses in Year 12 3 A2 courses in Year 13 Majority of sixth form students will follow this pattern. Some 4AS and 4A2
