10 Scientific Diving Under ASU policy and federal regulations all research and related activities involving underwater diving: –for which ASU is a participant –regardless of whether the activity will receive funding or not –must adhere to strict AAUS standards and certification per RSP207RSP207

11 Objectivity in Research Conflict of Interest To disclose any financial interest that could potentially bias the design, conduct, or results of research Annual questionnaire –Must be completed by all staff on a sponsored project –5 Yes/No questions –Auto email reminders from ORIA –Management plans distributed –ORSPA 300C by PI and Co-I’s

12 Security Security Clearances –ASU does not participate in classified research on campus –Sponsor may require faculty to have access to classified information to carry out the research –Security clearance requests and ITAR visit requests go to the Facilities Security Officer (FSO) Debra Murphy at 965-2179

13 Export Controls Laws and regulations that apply regardless of sponsor or funding All shipments of items to foreign countries/collaborators are an export and need review by ORIA Sharing export controlled technical data with foreign nationals in the United States (deemed export) or abroad in any manner may require a license Contact Sheryl Trexler 727-0870 for assistance
