9 The 7 Principles of the Code “Achieve & sustain superior levels of performance which meet or exceed the needs & expectations of all stakeholders” Continual innovation in the services (in line with the needs of your ‘community’) Continuous improvement of all aspects of the way in which the organisation & partnerships work to achieve greater capability, efficiency & sustainability 1. Acting as guardians of the sport, recreation or activity 3. Delivery of Vision, Mission & Purpose 6. Accountability & transparency 7. Understanding & engaging with the sporting landscape 4. Balanced, inclusive & skilled Board 5. Standards, systems & controls 2. Defining & evaluating the role of the Board

10 What is Self Assessment? Formal, systematic, regular review of All areas of the ‘organisation’ against Excellence Criteria by A team from your organisation Resulting in Plans for improvement

The acceptance of this in an open, mature and positive way, without fear of failure, is vital for every organisation! Successful organisations don’t worry about this or cover it up…they work on improving with a passion!” The underlying belief….

17 Improvement Planning Principles… “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”! Must be about changes to collective behaviour Focus “Begin the end in mind” Clear & specific outputs (what will have changed) Project plans Improvement team techniques.
