2. Things to know academically  Obtain the Undergraduate Catalog and Student Guide  Read Undergraduate Rules & Regulations  Familiarize yourself with CE Curriculum Find out about minimum credit requirements, must courses, prerequisite courses, techical & non-technical elective courses

3. Thing to know academically  Instructors See your advisor first for problems  Assistants See assistants for problems concerning a course  Laboratories Windows lab (A125) Linux Lab (A122) Get yourself accounts in both labs.

4. Things to know academically  Probation: If your GPA is below 1.5 2 semesters in a row, then you are on probation and can not take more credits than your current semester’s credit (usually 18 credits).  CENG101 & CENG102 is a prereq. for all courses in junior (3rd) year.  CENG101 or CENG102 is a prereq. for courses in sophomore (2nd) year

5. Books  Students must own textbooks for the courses taken.  You may be given openbook exams or quizzes.  Photocopying of a text book is not allowed.

6. Thing to know academically  Cheating & Copying Cheating is strictly prohibited. It is a discipline offend. The penalty for cheating is 1 or 2 semesters expelsion form the school. Cheating is moral problem. When you cheat, you cheat yourself! And you cheat your friends. Uphold the Academic Honor Code and do not cheat.

7. Things to know academically  In each course there will be Midterm(s) Quizze(s) Assignments Project A final exam  A course theoretical (exams) and practical requirements (assignments).  Point Assignments/project must be submitted in order to pass courses

11. Things to know academically  If you are planning on graduate study, take TOEFL and GRE when in 3rd year. apply for student assitantship to help instructors in their courses. Find out about graduate programs oversees and get ready to apply Get a high GPA

12. Thins to know academically  STRESSED ? When feeling down, frustrated, helpless, stressed, angry, GET HELP, let others know and help you. See a counsel at the health desk. You can also talk to your advisor, instructors, assistants.

13. Things to know academically  University is different than highschool. University is not an highschool. You are on your own, you have to discipline, organize, take control of your life. In the end you will have to accept the responsibility of the results of your actions.

14. Things to know academically  Points Something, like programming, is difficult to learn without practice (remember assignments!). So you do not do the assignments, you will fail the course. If you do not study, you do not pass.
