2 Solar Motions Revolution- the movement of one object around another. The earth is constantly traveling around the sun. It takes the Earth 365 days to complete one revolution around the sun. The moon is also revolving. It revolves around the Earth.

3 At certain times, the sun, moon and Earth are in alignment. Either the moon can cast a shadow on the Earth, or the Earth can cast a shadow on the moon. When the sun, moon, and Earth are in perfect alignment, it is known as an eclipse.
