What does Jesus think about peacemaking?

Matthew 5:9 “Joyful are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

We can’t understand the shock that went through the audience when they heard Jesus utter these words for the first time.

Do you think some people today still disagree with the truth of “Joyful are the peacemakers?”

Don’t there seem to be people whose whole lifestyle brings trouble wherever they are-marriage, family, work, school, church and community?

Repentant over sins Meek Hungry and thirsty for righteousness Anybody know who this guy is?

The idea of peace runs throughout the Bible.

Peace in the Bible is always based on justice and righteousness.

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” “they will see God”

The end result of doing the right thing is peace.

Jesus tells us to be peacemakers NOT peacewishers or peacehopers or

peacedreamers or peacelovers or peace talkers, but peacemakers

A peacemaker according to Jesus is someone who has already made peace with God and is now actively

seeking to reconcile other people to themselves, to God and to others.

Peacemaking is a divine work.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.”

Peacemaking is a difficult work.

Peacemaking doesn’t always work

Romans 12:18 “If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.”

Peacemaking brings great joy to the peacemaker.

the process of becoming a peacemaker

The beginning of being a peacemaker is to have a peace in your own heart between you and God.

Peacemakers then can make peace between themselves and other people.

Peacemakers then can lead others to make peace with God.

Peacemakers then can help others to make peace with each other.
