The completed blue handout is due by the start of class tomorrow – 12/11. 2. Chapters 9-12 Vocab Test RESCHEDULED DUE TO SNOW/LATE START.

2 Learning Targets: Symbolic analysis of WHY this symbol is significant to the novel as a whole 1. I can clearly explain how this symbol develops a larger theme or universal truth. 2. I can make connections between my symbol and larger ideas that Golding addresses in the novel. 3. I can explain why those connections are significant and have been studied/debated over time. 4. I can clearly reiterate how my symbol connects to a larger theme within the novel.

3 Symbolism Graphic Organzier  Take out your blue Symbolism Handout and Blue Symbolism Graphic Organizer.  Write and analyze 1 WHY together.  Write and analyze 1 WHY on your own.

4 Step-by-step sentence stems for box 2: Why 1. How does the symbol connect to a theme?  Because the __________ symbolizes _________, the symbolism suggests _________ (insert life lesson here). 2.
