Is the birthplace of Ajax, one of the heroes of Trojan War, and Euripides, one of the three major ancient Greek tragedies writers. In modern times it is the home to the biggest naval base of Greece and headquarters for the Hellenic Navy. Palakia, is the second largest port of Europe as it concerns the passengers transferring after Rotterdam.
