3 2008 Achievements to date: 1.netCUDA model credit union – model for 21 st Century 2.Pilot for model - Essex Savers net Credit Union – continues to be developed to provide wider financial services across the county. 3.Back Office Credit Union IT system - now fully implemented and available to other credit unions. 4.Support for many credit unions: existing, expanding and Development Groups

4 netCUDA model More than a Credit Union ‘one stop shop’ for Financial Services Savings and Affordable loans access to money/welfare benefits advice and CDFI + wider financial services as allowed by FSA :  Universal access across the common bond area with ‘face to face’ service – as needed  Variety of accounts:  Membership Shares & Junior  Christmas & Holiday savings  Budget Account to accept wages, welfare benefits, pensions, etc  Funeral Plan  Pension  PayPoint & prepaid Debit Card  Payroll deduction

5 expand the geographical area of our work - set up/develop netCUDA model credit unions throughout the South East, East and London regions  Replicate netCUDA model - offer the model more widely and support those wanting to use it across the UK  Set up a credit union ‘back office’ system - to be available to any credit union in the UK, in partnership with Fern Computer Services. Aims

6 Current work and Funding:  Roding Savers net Credit Union (proposed) setting up netCUDA credit union for Redbridge & Barking & Dagenham - £10,000 currently available if matched. Awaiting commitment from local authorities to pay full costs to set up and run as required by FSA.  HM Treasury proposal to replicate netCUDA credit unions throughout the East and South East of England, then UK with support of FERN (software), NACUW and trade bodies, eg. UKCU (expertise and training) and other organisations including mutuals.  Kent County Council proposal to undertake work in partnership with Kent CC to set up a county wide credit union for Kent County, as netCUDA model piloted in Essex  Extend Essex Savers into the two unitary authorities working with Thurrock Council and the FSA to extend services to cover their area and will include Southend in this to cover gaps in provision there.

8 netCUDA Back Office using ABACUS ABACUS provides ‘back office’ IT system for credit unions providing required Management and FSA reports Implemented and pilot for Essex Savers Remote access at collection points through the internet – giving member information, including photographs and enabling transactions online Constant back up and continuous power Server, with additional capacity, able to provide service throughout UK

9 to deliver: Universal Credit Union Services for the UK by developing and replicating the netCUDA model so that everyone in the country has access to credit union and wider financial services. Given the resources to achieve this Working for Financial Inclusion GOAL GOAL
