Energy Efficiency through Product & Process Design Module 1 - Introduction Explaining the Course and Goals © Australian Management Academy and Eco Products Agency 3

Energy Efficiency through Product & Process Design The basis of this course is: –80% of potential energy savings are ‘locked in’ at the design stage –Energy can be saved throughout the product lifecycle –Awareness and skills at the design stage can significantly improve energy efficiency throughout the product lifecycle –This can save costs and reduce environmental impacts 4 © Australian Management Academy and Eco Products Agency

Energy Efficiency through Product & Process Design The training goals are to: –Increase energy efficiency awareness and skills –Introduce sustainability and Sustainable Manufacturing –Introduce Life Cycle Thinking –Show where energy is used in the life cycle and how it can be saved –Provide tools for evaluating product & process options 5 © Australian Management Academy and Eco Products Agency

Energy Efficiency through Product & Process Design An accredited Certificate IV (or higher) level course based on MSA competency unit: MSAENV472A Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices 1.Investigate current practices in relation to resource usage. 2.Set targets for improvements. 3.Implement performance improvement strategies. 4.Monitor performance. 6 © Australian Management Academy and Eco Products Agency

Your Participation Attend the 2 day course Complete pre-training & post-training surveys Complete 4 assessment tasks during 2 days Submit one final assessment task within 3 months to demonstrate implementation of an energy efficiency project 7 © Australian Management Academy and Eco Products Agency
