2.  Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.  Rotary is the world’s first service club.  First Rotary Club was founded in Chicago on February 23, 1905  Founded by Paul Harris  Over 1.2 Million Rotarians, over 34, 000 clubs in over 200 Countries  Rotarians meet weekly for fellowship and interesting and informative programs  Rotarians plan and carry out a remarkable variety of Humanitarian, Educational, and Cultural exchange programs that touch people’s lives in their local communities and our world community.  Rotary is The Rotary Foundation which each year provides some 90 million dollars for international scholarship, cultural exchanges and humanitarian projects large and small that improve the quality of life for millions of people.

3.  The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster;  First, the development of acquaintance as opportunity for service  Second, high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all usefull occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society  Third, the application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life.  Fourth, the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

4.  1985 Rotary launches Polio Plus  At the time paralyzes more than 1,000 children worldwide everyday  1995 India reports 3,263 cases  1996 drops 69% to 1,005  2007 Rotary and Gates Foundation commit to $200 million for Polio Eradication  2009 Rotary and Gates Foundation boost commitment to $555 million  2012 India has been declared Polio Free  Today the world is 99% Polio Free

5.  Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club  Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and practice high ethical standards.  Community Service covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community  International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and promote world understanding and peace
