Methodology Participants 50 participants Age 18-30 Criteria: must have suffered a traumatic life experience Recruited through local newspapers Told this would be a study on memory of past life events Offered $20 incentive

Methodology Materials AMQ-R Autobiographical Memory Questionnaire – Revised 9 questions omitted from original 2 questions added. Measured on Likert Type scale

Methodology Procedure Participants called to recreational hall (informal setting) Asked to recall a negative life event Randomly assigned to a condition Talking Writing Talking group speaks with confederate Writing group completes the AMQ-R

Talking Condition Questions similar in format to the AMQ-R Given to confederate prior to experiment Writing Condition

Results Independent Samples t-test AMQ Scores y-axis Conditions (writing/talking) x-axis Bars will coincide with hypothesis.
