1. Great Idea Time ! Working once again with Richard Austin -this week we all had to come up with our individual ideas for the new school sculpture. We had previously discussed all the key elements that we would like the sculpture to represent.

2. A marquette is a small 3 D model used for either a sculptural or an architectural project. It is a mock up to show the client (Fowey River Academy) what the finished piece may look like. Here we are using strips of cardboard to create our models Making them 3D helps to see the perspective of the finished piece

3. Firstly – the idea is to cut out the key 2D shapes - assembling all the pieces needed Then we start to lay out the pieces and build them up into a 3D model

Design ideas ranged from - wave formations with lots of different features of Fowey in the waves and hearts and hands to demonstrate community To obelisk shaped sculptures, representing lighthouses; celtic crosses and Gribben Head Other ideas took on the theme of learning and adventure and used boats; books and achievement ladders

5. Community and friendship Celtic feel A beacon of Inspiration Inspired by the sea and Fowey river Using the lighthouse theme Windmill theme

6. Now for the hardest part – We had to decide which idea to go with. Everybody’s idea had something special and each one told a story about - the school; the area or about an emotion. Then we came up with a great idea ……… Use a bit of everyone’s model idea.

7. With a bit of guidance from Richard and suggestions from everyone in the class we finally came up with an idea of how we would like to see the school sculpture…… At the next Governors meeting we will present our ideas to Mr Perry and the Governors and hope that we get the opportunity to make our sculpture.
