4. Nonfiction Texts Nonfiction texts give facts. In a nonfiction text, some facts and ideas are more important that others.

5. To understand nonfiction text, you need to identify the most important ideas, or the main ideas. A lot of times, the first sentence in a paragraph tells you the main idea for the whole paragraph.

10. Example 2: Paraphrase Example 2ORIGINAL SENTENCE We know of more than 1,000 species of dinosaurs. More dinosaurs are being discovered every year. On a piece of paper and with your partner rewrite the sentence in example 2 replace with synonyms: Discuss how you could change with word order change. Look at example on next slide.
