2 Objectives Definition of healing. Scar, bone fracture, keloid Liver cirrhosis Circulatory disturbances (embolism ,myocardial infarction) Breast cancer.

3 Healing: the process of returning to health; the restoration of structure and  function of injured  or diseased tissues. The healing processes include blood clotting, tissue mending, scarring, and bone healing.

4 Wound healing

5 SCAR TISSUE. SCAR TISSUE. : the connective tissue forming a scar and composed chiefly of fibroblasts in recent scars and largely of dense collagenous fibers in old scars. .the picture shows : Two scars are surrounded by a large encapsulation of inflammatory and scar tissue.

6 the result of tissue repair by scarring
the result of tissue repair by scarring. Over time, firbroblasts lay down more collagen.

7 Bone healing Bone healing, or fracture healing, is a proliferative physiological process in which the body facilitates the repair of a bone fracture.

8 Cartilage formation in bone healing

9  keloid scar ( keloid scar) is the formation of a type of scar in which, depending on its maturity, is composed mainly of either type III (early) or type I (late) collagen.

11 cirrhosis in the liver Fatty liver, also known as fatty liver disease (FLD), is a reversible condition wherein large vacuoles of triglyceride fat accumulate in liver cells via the process of steatosis (i.e., abnormal retention of lipids within a cell).

13 Circulatory disturbances embolism
Pulmonary embolism (is a sudden blockage in a lung artery. The blockage usually is caused by a blood clot that travels to the lung

14 Due to a blocked gas exchange, pulmonary embolism often becomes a life-threatening complication of thrombosis – namely when a blood is clotted.

15 myocardial infarction
The term "myocardial infarction" focuses on the heart muscle, which is called the myocardium, and the changes that occur in it due to the sudden deprivation of circulating blood Grossly, a remote myocardial infarction is evidenced by white collagenous scar.

16 Acute myocardial infarct, histology
Acute myocardial infarct, histology. This 3-4 day old infarct shows necrosis of myocardial cells and is infiltrated with PMN leukocytes

17 Definition of breast cancer: Cancer that forms in tissues of the breast.
The most common type of breast cancer is ductal carcinoma, milk producing glands of the breast tissue Another type of breast cancer is lobular carcinoma (thin tubes that carry milk from the lobules of the breast to the nipple) ,

18 you can see, here are clustered large ducts that are filled with many cells. This cellular proliferation or growth remains in the duct, Tubular carcinoma
