Justify 2 ingredients from your recipe.  For example, if I have Scout Tomboy Broth “quote here” page 56  Justify how the quote supports Scout being a tomboy. 1.What do you find most interesting about this character? Explain. 2.If you could ask this character anything, what would you ask? Explain why you would ask that particular question. 3.Is there anything, regarding the novel, which you find confusing or do not understand? What is it?

4 Character Recipes As you come up to present: 1.Face the class 2.Make sure everyone can hear you – project your voice! 3.Speak clearly and articulate your words. 4.Give detail and expound on your subject matter. 5.Smile and be happy

17 Warm Up Editing: 1.Edit your Journal 3. 2.Read slowly and carefully. If you’re finished within 2 minutes, you didn’t edit your paper. 3.Corrections can be made by rewriting above or make a notation (*) and write correction at the bottom of paper. 4.Check for  Sentence fluency (combine sentences!)  Capitalization and spelling  Punctuation  Ideas and content – does it make sense?

18 Blogging We’re going to call this journal entry a “blog.” Here’s how it will work: 1.Your going to pass your journal in a specified direction. 2.Once you have someone else’s journal you’re to read the journal. Enjoy. 3.Write a comment on the sticky note and stick it on the margin, so the note is facing out. 4.Sign the comment.

19 Blogging There will be 3 comments per blog/journal. What do I comment about? Their ideas. Where their thoughts original/unique? Let them know! Ask them questions about what they wrote. Promote discussion. Who knows, maybe they’ll write back. Disagree Politely disagree with a view point and be sure to explain why. Each comment should be at 2-3 complete sentences.

20 Blogging Oh, be sure to read quickly! We have 4 min per comment. Comment One: Pass forward 2 times. Comment Two: Pass to the left 2 times. Comment Three: Pass behind 2 times.
