3. March 12, 1957 : NAFA signs articles of incorporation. 1967 : Affiliate category is established. ALSO: NAFA hosts Annual Conference in Canada; first time beyond U.S. borders. 1969 : Distinguished Service Award is initiated. ALSO: first Fleet Safety Manual is published. 1982 : NAFA and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania partner for the Wharton Certified Fleet Manager Program (CFM). 1985/1987 : NAFA’s first woman President, Helen Bland. Defense-of-Fleet lobbying efforts in Washington D.C. began during her presidency. 1986/1987 : Public Safety and Government fleets incorporated into NAFA. 1989 : The Wharton CFM program is incorporated fully under NAFA, and the CAFM program is launched. 1966 : NAFA’s first Canadian chapter, the Quebec Chapter, is established.

First time in Northeast in a decade, featuring a Tuesday-Friday schedule. 2008 : Association’s name officially changed to NAFA Fleet Management Association.
