1. Eden Hotel and Spa Borovoe, Kazakhstan Borovoe is in the north of Kazakhstan, about 250 km away from Astana the capital. That area is also know as the Switzerland of Kazakhstan, has about 5000 inhabitants during the off season, and grows to around 100,000 during the Summer.

2. Was invited to assist with the Eden Hotel and Spa. Property has 39 rooms on 3 floors at this time, With a restaurant, lounge, karaoke bar, children facility ( in house playroom), fitness centre and a Russian style steam/bathhouse. They are working on a Spa Centre and plans is to expand the hotel with around 30 more rooms and a Restaurant/Party room in the corner of the.

3. There are about 40 hotels in the city and they can also accommodate 900 people in bed and breakfast places. The city is surrounded by 3 lakes, but the infrastructure is still in it’s infancy stages, i.e. tours and other tourism facilities are meager.

4. Within days after arriving, I found out that the property next door also belonged to the owner, and they are building a Container Hotel, consisting of 40 standard and 20 de luxe rooms, recommended a Hamburger stand at the entrance of the property to service their guests as well as others, for breakfast and luncheon.

5. During the project found out that they also have. A Karaoke Bar, a Restaurant in Astana and are in the process of building a 100 room hotel and a 50 bed Hostel.

6. The return on investment is very good. My observation is that the country is a cash society. Labor costs are very low. They do not get many foreigners in the country, but that may change after the Expo in 2017.
