What you will be reading? In this book you will learn how to play soccer! If you don’t play a sport right now it would be a perfect time for you to practice for the up coming season. you can practice with your mom, dad, sister, or brother. your into swimming, sorry you don’t get to jumping a nice cool pool. You will need to be fast and have balance. If you are a dancer, soccer wont be to hard to learn for you cause you have balance, your strong and you dance in front of a lot of people so stage fright/people staring at you wont be a big deal. you will learn where the positions are for soccer so when you start a game you wont be confused.

What do you need? Before you start soccer you will need to buy some cleats so you have more traction to run on the ground. you can also wear tennis shoes but they give you a lot less traction so you may be sliding a lot more. You will also NEED shingards! shingards protect your shins from getting bruised. You must have soccer socks over them at all times! Your soccer socks can have any thing on them unless your team coach wants you to wear a specific kind or color. You will defiantly need a jersey and a pair of athletic shorts they may also be a different color but if your coach says different you must wear that color shorts. If you are the goalie you might want to purchase some goalie gloves. goalie cloves helps your have to have more grip to the ball.. When you are goalie you are required to wear a different color jersey than both teams. Your coach should have a penny you could wear. You can also wear a coat under your jersey the whole game playing any position but it can NOT have a hood on it.

rools Rule’s are very important in the game of soccer. the first important rule is off sides. Off sides may not apply to fifth graders or any one younger. Off sides is where you cant go past the other teams last defense player. These rules don’t apply to the defender as long as your on your side of the field. If you do go off sides the other team will get a free kick where you went passed the last defender. If you kick the ball out of the field lines, the other team will either throw it in, have it be a corner kick or a goal kick. for a through in you must have your foot not leave the ground and your hands must go behind your head. The corner kick is where you kick it out near the corner than kick it in. a goal kick is where you kick it out and the other team will put it on the corner of the little goalie box than kick it.

Positions for starting For starting the game your coach will tell you where to start on the field. Goalie is the one who can only PICK UP the ball in the two boxes. Defense starts on the out side of the big goalie box. Mid field is a little in front of defense. Forward starts around the big circle in the front.

Penalty's Penalty’s are where you or the other team gets in trouble and there is a consequence. For example if you push someone front behind or pushes them down. Your team/there team will have the other team kick a penalty kick where the collision happened. The other penalty's you may receive is a yellow card which is where you get a warning or have to sit out the rest of the other/ rest of the game. An red card is where you kick someone really hard, grab them, or punch them. A red card gets you taken out of the game and you are unable to play for the next game or two. Two yellow cards gets you taken out of the game

Life of a soccer player Times very 9:00 am-wake up and put of your jersey, shorts, and put your hair up somehow. 9:06- go to the bathroom and brush your teeth. 9:12- go down stairs, drink smoothie, eat eggs and French toast. 9:26 your soccer socks and shingards on. P.S don’t put you cleats on in the house or your mom will get very mad. 9:32 put your cleats on in garage. 9: 45 leave house. 10:00 get to the field and practice with team. 10:30 get in the position your coach says to go to.

So what do you think? Do you think you will start soccer?even though you don’t get to hold your breath, where a skin tight sillicone hat or get the temptation of waiting for the beep like in swimming. You do get a lot of bruise’s but it is worth it!! conclusion

glossary Cleat- a shoe with lots of spikes at the bottom. Shin gard- a plastice sheild protecting your shin Off sides- where you cant go past the other teams defense Soccer socks- socks that cover your shin gards goalie gloves- gloves that you use when you are goalie to catch the ball when it is rolling or in the air because they give you more grip to the ball and when you slap the ball to stop it your hands and it wont hurt as much.
