1 The Disciple’s Paradox Galatians 1:1-5

2 “Paul an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—and all the brethren who are with me, to the churches of Galatia: Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father; to whom be the glory for ever and ever (the age to come). Amen.” Galatians 1: 1-5.

3 1. The AUTHORITY for Paul’s message – an apostle from God (verses 1-2) "an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God" 2 Corinthians 1: 1 "Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?" 1 Corinthians 9:1 "Last of all, as to one untimely born, Jesus appeared also to me. For I am least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, for I persecuted the church of God." 1 Corinthians 15:8–9

Ephesians 2:20 "I write this while I am away from you, in order that when I come, I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down." 2 Corinthians 13:10
