2. Russia’s Land The gigantic size of Russia and harsh climates make transportation difficult. Russia has inland waterways which are important for moving goods, but long rivers drain north into the Arctic Ocean and freeze in the winter.

3. Renting a car is expensive. It is difficult when traveling by car because the roads are poorly marked. If it isn’t, it is poorly maintained, especially in cities and towns. The Russian highways have roadblocks about every 20 kilometers.

4. The Trans-Siberian Railroad only have routes to the southern part of Russia, near Asia. Some routes go down to the central Asian cities. The least difficult routes in Russia may not be the shortest route because of the physical features that are there. Czars (emperors) expanded Russia to reach form Europe to the Pacific Ocean which has the Trans- Siberian railroad and spreads across the country.

5. The two most important northwestern ports in Russia are Kaliningrad and St.Petersburg. The companies that deliver goods to the Kaliningrad port face an obstacle. They have to transport their goods for another 200 miles through the other countries to reach the nearest inland part of Russia. They can keep their goods in the summer on their ships, but they have to travel north 500 miles more to the port in St. Petersburg.

6. Buses There are many people at the bus stations. If you are waiting for a bus ticket, you might have to wait 1-2 hours in line, and there might not be any more tickets left by the time you get there. Sometimes the tickets might not have anything informative on it.
