1 PTC-2011 meeting of WMO, Geneva, 7-9 Feb. 2011
Strategy Development Scheme for GFCS Implementation by CAgM of WMO - through collaborations with WMO constituent bodies Byong-Lyol LEE President Commission for Agricultural Meteorology WMO Director-in-Chief National Center for AgroMeteorology Korea

2 1. AgroMeteorolgy Revisit
Products/Applications Monitoring Communications User Interface

3 AgroEcosystem Service
Agriculture can provide numerous commodity and non-commodity outputs, some of which benefit the public without compensating the farmer. AgroEcosystem (Elliott and Cole, 1989) as in classical definition an interactive group of biotic and abiotic components some of which are under human control that forms a unified whole (ecosystem) for the purpose of producing food and fiber Non-commodity outputs (public services) as is Ecological Services ecological functions (e.g. biodiversity, nutrient cycling, and carbon sequestration) and cultural functions (e.g. recreation, cultural heritage, and visual quality)

4 AgroMeteorology for AE Services
Ecosystem Biotic Abiotic Natural Resources Ecological Goods Ecological Services Economic Value Ecological Value Multi-disciplinary Multi-functionality Agricultural Meteorology AgroEcosystem Services Productivity : Quality Cultural : Ecological Functions Adaptation : Resilience Food, Fodder, Bio-energy Nutrients, Diet Landscape Design Eco-tourism, Recreation Climate Change/Variability Natural Hazards Management Farming Community Conservation Custodian Of Natural Resources
