3  Originates from Greece  Started in 379

4  The biggest and only place that celebrates St. Basil’s day is Greece

5  St. Basil and several of his brothers and sisters were honored saints in the catholic religion

6  One tradition is to bake a cake with a gold or silver coin inside. Whoever finds the coin will have good luck.  On New Year's Eve grown ups and children go from house to house singing the New Year's Kalanda.

7  They like to sit on Christmas eve in the dark waiting for Christmas  St. Basil the Great was born at Caesarea of Cappadocia in 330. He was one of ten children of St. Basil the Elder and St. Emmelia. Several of his brothers and sisters are honored among the saints.
