 Native Georgian (I grew up in Roswell and graduated from Milton High School…the OLD Milton).  UGA Grad….GOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!  My favorite author is Ken Follett. I’ve read most of his books more than once.  I live in Cumming, GA with my husband Russ and my 15 year old, Sam. My 20 year old is a junior at UGA and he lives in Athens all the time.  I love dogs…all dogs!!! I have a lab named Champ and an English Bulldog named Mack. They are my well-behaved children

 The syllabus for 6 th grade advanced, as well as 7 th grade Advance/Accelerated math can be found on my website and the Hopewell Middle School Website.  The syllabus includes grading policies, provisions for improving grades, units of study, homework guidelines and absence guidelines.

 6 th grade advanced math will cover the 2 nd half of the 6 th grade advanced curriculum and all of the 7 th grade advanced curriculum.  Many of the 6 th and 7 th grade standards will be taught simultaneously.

 5% homework  25% classwork/projects  30% quizzes  40% summative assessments  30% earned through assisted work  40% earned through unassisted work

 Homework is expected to completed and brought to class according to the teacher’s directions. Homework is a completion grade. Homework must be completed at a rate of 80% or more to be eligible for test recovery (in addition to scoring a 75 or below on the test).  Any projects assigned will be completed in class and will be recorded as a classwork/project grade.

 Homework Expectations: Homework will be assigned most weekdays.  All math work is to be written in pencil only. If the student does not show the necessary work and/or explanation on his/her paper, it will be considered an incomplete assignment. Homework is given to reinforce material presented in class so it is important that the homework is done on the day assigned. We will check and correct homework using a pen in class the following day (or as deemed appropriate by the teacher). Late homework may be turned in the next day for partial credit. No credit will be given for homework submitted more than one day late.

 If a student scores a 75 or below on a test, then a recovery option will be provided to the student. ◦ The failed test will be sent home with your student and will include specific directions for recovery. ALL TEST RECOVERY MUST BE DONE ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS PROVIDED ON THE TEST. ◦ Student must complete their homework at a rate of 80% or more to be eligible for recovery. ◦ A parent signature must be provided on the test. ◦ The student is required to check in with their teacher regarding the low assessment score. ◦ The student will be required to complete additional practice on the concept(s) that were not mastered. ◦ Upon completion of the recovery expectations, a recovery grade will be determined and will replace the original test grade (up to a 75).

 Upon returning to school following an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teachers to request make-up work. The student will be given the same amount of time to make up the work as the student was absent unless other arrangements are mutually agreed upon. The student will receive the actual grade on the make-up work. Make-up work submitted late will result in partial credit. Make-up work not turned in will receive a zero. Please send any requests for make-up work 24 hours ahead of time so that the work can be prepared for the student to work on at home.

 Tuesday mornings: Ms. Novelli (F109)  Wednesday mornings: Ms. Reagan  Thursday mornings:Ms. Reagan  Friday Mornings:Ms. Novelli  Help sessions begin at 8:20am.  Students should come prepared with specific questions.
