One day tablets will be cheap enough to spread around the globe and everyone will have access to a cruddy cell connection that allows access to online OER (Open Educational Resources.) But that is not today ! This is what we can construct now in the realm of Copyright law to help the world help themselves. The Law: This is the law judges considered when exempting copyright infringement under "fair use"- I WANT BOOKS & E-BOOKS FOR A BETTER WORLD! The Problems: 1. If a company finds a way to make money translating and getting books to underprivileged and impoverished nation then they deserve to bypass the copyright and make money. 2. NOBODY does this because the law says they need permission from every author they publish and distribute. My Solution! One paragraph in the law stating: If the user was underprivileged, living in an impoverished state or if a copier was creative enough to make money copying books of educational value for nations in an impoverished state that they are exempt from copyright law as long as those works of literature were not sold outside that nation for the profit of said copier. “The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes” (Bold text added by me for emphasis) This guy knows…
