2 DEFINITION Computer engineers research, design, develop, test, and oversee the manufacture and installation of computer hardware, including computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and related equipment such as keyboards, routers, and printers.

3 SPECIFIC JOBS They work on the design, planning, development, testing, and even the supervision of manufacturing of computer hardware.

4 PREPARATION You will need a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.

5 AVERAGE SALARY The median income is $97,400 a year.

6 PLACES OF WORK Some computer engineers might work in laboratories, offices, and testing facilities.

7 COMPANIES Some of the companies a computer engineer might work for are Texas Instruments, Apple, and Microsoft.

8 THE FUTURE In the future computer engineers will create a super computer.
