6 The Fall of the Aztecs  The City of Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztec Empire. Some called it a city of gold!

8 The Fall of the Aztecs  Montezuma was the ruler of empire when conquistador Hernan Cortes arrived.  The Aztecs believed this pale man (Cortes) to be a god, with strange animals for riding (horses)!  Cortes took Montezuma hostage! He wanted gold!  The Spanish were able to conquer the Aztecs with their guns germs and steel.

16 The fall of the Inca  In 1532 Francisco Pizarro arrives on the coast of Peru.  Second Cousin of Hernan Cortes  He invites Incan Emperor Atahualpa to a feast and captures him!  Once again they were conquered with guns, germs and steel!

22 Columbian Exchange  Crops, Goods, Animals, and even Diseases were “exchange,” or traded between the Old World (Europe, and Africa) and the New World (Americas).  Name after Columbus and his voyage in 1492 that started the “trading” of culture.  Opened up Europe, Africa, and the Americas to new crops, and animals that they had never seen before.  The disease destroyed the Native American populations. Europeans were immune.
