6 BUILDING BLOCKS  Purpose: To practice giving instructions using descriptive and locative classifiers, and to work on signer’s perspective.  Work with partners (the one in front of you/behind you).  Tell your partner how you want to build your blocks by just using classifiers (describing them and locating them).

10 Transitions between Events  Pauses: Head is lowered, signing is paused, then raise head to signal the beginning of the next event.  When Clauses: Always at beginning, includes raised eyebrows and a head tilt Tell someone’s age (When I was four, I started Kindergarten) Mention another event (right after graduation, I got married) Tell the year the event occurred (in 1985, he passed away)

15 Explaining Family Origins Grammar  When explaining your family’s origins, first you need to _list_the person(s) you are talking about. (i.e. your mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather, etc…)  Typically, start with your mom and dad. Then you can easily _trace_ back your family history using mom and dad as your _point_ of _reference____.

16 Family Origin, continued  Tell how much of a particular nationality that person is, remembering to use _closing____ signals. (Think predicate adjective and predicate nominative.)  Remember, when discussing other relatives related to that person, keep the nouns first and then the _adjectives____. (Example: grandmother hers, sister his)
