Steps to Knowing God's Will 3/6/2012

involves 7 things… 1. Salvation 2. Revelation (Word of God) 3. Conviction (Obedience) 4. Dedication 5. Supplication (Prayer) 6. Separation 7. Transformation

1. Salvation John 10:27 "Jesus said, 'My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.'" Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast."

2. Revelation (Word of God) 2 Timothy 2:15 "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth." Psalm 119:32 "I shall run the way of Your commandments, for You will enlarge my heart."

Revelation (continued) 2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be, equipped for every good work." Luke 11:28 "But Jesus said, 'On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and observe it.'"

3. Conviction (Obedience) John 14:15 "Jesus said, 'If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.'" "Jesus washing Peter's feet" By Ford Madox Brown Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter."

4. Dedication Romans 12:1 "I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship." This is an Old Testament altar. The high points of the four corners are called "horns" and the blood of the sacrificed animal was sprinkled on them

5. Supplication (Prayer) 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Supplication (continued) Luke 11:5-8 "And He said to them, 'Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and from inside he answers and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.' I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

Supplication (continued) Luke 11:9-10 So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened'“ (nasb).

6. Separation 1 John 2:15-16 " Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh (passions) and the lust of the eyes (possessions) and the boastful pride of life (pride), is not from the Father, but is from the world."

7. Transformation Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." 2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
