8 University Requirements “A-G” (a) History 2 years -World History -U.S. History /American Government (b) English 4 years college prep (c) Mathematics 3 years required (4 years recommended) -Minimum: Algebra 2 (d) Science 2 years with lab (3 years recommended) (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) (e) Foreign Language Level 2 of same language (3 years recommended) (f) Visual / Performing Arts 1 year (g) Elective 1 year UC/CSU campuses consider a “D” grade in a required course a Subject Omission. “D” grades need to be remediated. However there are exceptions. See Your Counselor!

11 PACE Promise ADMISSION GUARANTEE:  Have you been enrolled in the San Marcos Unified School District all four years?  Have you completed the A-G coursework with grades of “ C ” or better?  Did you meet the CSU eligibility index?  Have you taken the SAT Reasoning or ACT Exam?  You must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting January 1st. PACE $CHOLAR:  $tudents must pass the EAP test in English and math during the 11 th grade (taken during spring of junior year) *YOU MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO CSUSM*

12 New Partnership with University of Connecticut Grant Amount and Eligibility: Students must satisfy all PACE Promise Benchmarks Accepted to a major in a STEM discipline, as defined by UConn Demonstrated participation and engagement in STEM related activities while in high school Eligibility for UConn’s Honors Program (3.0 Minimum GPA) The initial value of the UConn Promise grant is $21,000 per year. The grant will be a fixed amount for four years (eight semesters) of the student’s education at UConn.

18 $$ Financial Aid $$ We will help you with this process in the fall of senior year New regulations for FAFSA for class of 2017 –Students will be able to file beginning October 1 of senior year (used to be after Jan 1 of senior year) –FAFSA will use income information from the PREVIOUS tax year (as opposed to the upcoming year) –Benefits: Alignment- the financial aid process will be more aligned with college application process Certainty- students (and parents) will not need to estimate income information Less pressure- more time for students to explore and understand financial aid options
