1 + Final Project Ancient Egypt: iMovie Study Guides Candice Oakland

2 + Purpose Students will create study guides for lessons in their social studies class. They will demonstrate that they understand the civilization they are studying by giving information as well as comparing their life with the lives of the people in an ancient civilization. The students with whom I work typically struggle with traditional study guides. They need an alternative way to demonstrate their knowledge. The students’ study guides will serve as study guides for their peers. The students will be able to use this project in lieu of a test grade. The students will also learn how to use video editing software and different types of hardware (e.g. a video camera).

3 + Procedure We will watch my example. They will choose one lesson from their text book. They will isolate 3-5 major concepts about the civilization they are studying from that lesson. They will come up with 3 or more ways that their lives are different. With assistance, they will write a script. Next, they will storyboard their project. We will then work together to learn iMovie. The students will have one on one time to complete their projects and get additional help. The students will find pictures, record their voices, and put their movie together with assistance. Finally, they will show their work.
