3 Aims and Objectives The project aims to enhance the effectiveness of European Adult Education teachers across a wide curriculum area by providing multi-skill training in basic skills support, managing diversity and student support

4 Main Activities Sharing of good practice in developing multiskills in the classroom The writing, piloting and evaluation of a ‘tool- kit’ for use in upskilling adult educators

5 Outputs Audit of each partner’s national qualification framework for Adult Education teachers A ‘tool-kit’ in CD ROM and web-based form Teacher training workshops Transnational seminar

9 Progress to Date 1. The first partnership meeting was held in Växjö Sweden in December 2003 and the budget, workplan and format for the website were all agreed. 2. Each partner reported back on the audit of qualifications and training opportunites available for adult education teachers in their country and this has been collated and published in the Group File in the project’s VCP.

10 Progress to Date cont’d 3. Between January and March 2004 a needs analysis was undertaken by each partner amongst adult education teachers and trainee teachers in their country. 4. The second partnership meeting was held in Dublin, Ireland in March 2004 at which this research was presented. It is currently being collated for publication.

11 Progress to Date cont’d 5. At the Dublin meeting, presentations on aspects of adult learning were made by experts from Austria, Bulgaria, Ireland and the UK. 6. Decisions about editorial style and layout of the tool-kit were made and specific editorial responsibilities were agreed.

12 Progress to Date cont’d 7. The partners involved in writing materials have now all begun and outlines have been received for two of the three modules. 8. It was agreed that work in progress will be presented at the third partnership meeting which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia in October 2004.

13 Progress to Date cont’d 9. The first piloting of the materials will take place in Prague, Czech Republic in June 2005 10. The project is well on-track to meet its target outcomes and there have been no major revisions to the original workplan
