Visualized Vocabulary Best of 6 th Period

Insidious Definition- intend to deceive. He’s hugging his girlfriend but secretly holding hands with her friend.

Insidious proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects. I chose this image because smoking harms you but very slowly.

Guise The definition of Guise is to have an external appearance. I chose this photo because the girl in the photo seems sweet and innocent and the many seems sketchy.

Adulterate I chose this picture because in the 1970’s, the reef was the subject of an ambitious expansion project utilizing old and discarded tires. The project failed, and the reef is considered an environmental disaster. They did it with the best intentions, but the ocean was adulterated with the tires, and the tires ultimately are releasing toxins into the ocean, and killing ocean life.

Stolid I chose a picture of Red Forman from “That 70’s Show” for stolid because it seems like he shows no emotion.

Verbatim The definition of Verbatim is word for word. I chose this photo because the picture represents the game Telephone which is telling each other the same story word for word.

Insidious I picked Wile e Coyote as an insidious character because he is constantly trying to deceive Road Runner.

Verbatim in exactly the same words; word for word

Warily caution

Pliable (adj.) easily bent Foil is weak

dour The teacher looks stern and not humorous.

Fortitude courage in the face of difficulty. Noun. I chose this picture because the little man showed courage when he decided to fight the bigger man.

Gibe (V.) – To utter taunting words I chose this picture because one of the girls is taunting the other.

Deploy To position or arrange; to form up This shows the military forming up

Insidious: (Adj.) Intended to deceive or entrap. I thought of a mirror fun house because its soul purpose is to deceive and confuse.

Guise (noun) External appearance Make up is an external appearance
