2 Adult education is currently believed to be one of the key factors influencing economic growth and social progress of a developing society. The base for the lifelong education strategy in the European Union constitutes the Resolution concerning lifelong learning adopted in June 2002 by the Council of Ministers.

3  Education in the formal education system  Education in the non-formal system  Informal education

4 Education in the formal education system covers science in the school system : at primary level, high school, vocational school, some college, higher education and doctoral. It is associated with the regular form of learning. It is conducted by institutions authorized to teach.

5 Education in the non- formal system does not cause changes in the level of education; takes the form of training courses of lectures, etc; it allows the extension of it’s own competence.

6 Informal education Persons who in the course of self-learning used: aid of family members,friends,colleagues books,professional magazines, and other printed materials; Computer programs; Programmes broadcast by radio, tv.

7 By place of residence People living in urban areas are more likely to participate in adult education than people those living in rural areas.

8 By age The older, the less interested in education.

9 University of the Third Age

10 Due to professional qualifications the higher qualifications, the greater need for training
