NHS Walk-in Centres New WiCs On 22 July 2003 Health Minister John Hutton announced a further £40m capital investment in new centres over three years to develop more WiCs - Potentially bigger role to play in reducing pressure on primary care services meeting the health needs of the local population Increased focus on their local contribution to national targets 24/48 hr Primary Care Access reducing 4 hour wait for treatment of minor injuries in A&E Provide patients with a choice of where they can access services - particularly for the working population DEMONSTRATOR WICS

7. WiCs are situated in convenient locations that allow the local population quick and easy access to a range of NHS services. For example Birmingham NHS Walk-in centre which is located in Boots The Chemists flagship High Street store in the City Centre shopping area.
