4 MAIN DIFFICULTIES, GAPS AND NEEDS Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment – Arable Crops Unit 4  Lack of detailed information No official statistics for some components of the balance (stocks, use…) and uncertainty on other figures (intra EU trade…) No mandatory declarations of farm/commercial stocks, use, etc. Low degree of interaction/coordination between the public and the private sector  Delay of the information available Extra EU trade (±6 weeks) Official crop production forecast (±2 months)  Difficulties in the use of historical data to make trends/models Climatic variability Price volatility  Lack of financial and human resources Strong inter-annual variability
