2. Kevin needs your help to go on a journey but before he goes you should research the Vikings so you know about him.

3. Vikings believed that a big serpent was turning the world by swimming around it under the sea! Vikings also believed that when people died, they went up to Valhalla (Viking heaven). There was also a Viking hell called helheim and in it all you got to drink was goats wee and you had to eat biscuits with maggots in them!

4. Viking weapons are usually spears because they are made mainly of wood which is cheap to use. The second most common weapon was the axe because of the same reason. Axes could also be used to pull and stab which is a tactic used by the Vikings where you pull away the enemies shield then hack at them.

5. The Vikings used lots of different types of clothing and armour. Do you know why we call trousers ‘a pair of trousers’? Its because Vikings had separate leg pieces! They also had lots of different kinds of armour such as: Helmets, mainly made of iron and leather; chainmail, made from iron and shields which were wooden with a metal plate in the centre; animal skin cloaks; leather armour and lamellar or scale armour.

6. The Vikings lived in longhouses which had a fire in the middle for smoking meats and cheeses, the fire would keep bugs away too. The smoke would waft out of two holes at the side of the house, there were also benches around the house to sit and sleep on (depending on the time of day). They mostly had thatched roofs and only had one bed for the elders of the house.

7. Thor was the Viking god of thunder. Odin is ruler of Asgard Loki is half god, half fire spirit and a shape changer Freyja is the goddess of love and fertility. Hel is the daughter of Loki.

8. Vikings had many battle styles but a common one was the wall. Vikings would stand shoulder to shoulder with their shields meeting at the edges and their weapons sticking through. The sides would then walk backwards then all of the Vikings would charge and the man at the front would lift up and attack from a height. Despite all the cartoons, Vikings never had horns on their helmets because if they did the horns would interlock, and you cant fight with a stiff head!

9. Viking longboats have a dragon head on the front to scare away evil spirits, they also had shield holders on the side.

10. Kevin will see some obstacles and you will need the knowledge to overcome them.
