Buddhists believe that the Buddha saw the truth about what the world is like. What do Buddhists believe? Buddhists do not believe in a God who is all-powerful. Buddhist believe people can gain enlightenment by following the Buddha’s teachings. Buddhists believe that when someone dies, they will be reborn in a cycle that goes on and on. How can you reach Nirvana ? Nirvana is escape from the cycle of rebirth into perfect peace. Buddhists try to reach Nirvana by following the Buddha’s teaching and by meditation. This brings you enlightenment – a state of mind from which you can enter Nirvana. The symbol used the most for Buddhism is the wheel with eight spokes, which represents the eight teachings of Buddhism. Another symbol is the lotus flower.
