1 NAV-IS: Navigation Information System
EN60945 Combined EM Log & Meteorological System

2 Nav-IS EN60945 Combined Log & Meteorological System

3 Nav-IS Maritime Panel Computer (MPC)
10.4” solid state EN60945 panel mountable MPC provides control of the LOG system, simulated speed entry, calibration and configuration parameter and data entry. MPC’s are configurable to allow either a single page or multiple pages of OWN ships data information, such as Heading, Roll, Pitch, Ship speed, Distance, Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Air pressure, Air / Sea Temperature, Depth, etc when provided with appropriate NMEA data message on their input are all available at no additional cost.

4 Nav-IS Maritime Panel Computer (MPC)
Additional MPC’s can be added to the system easily. A page customisation service available from AMI where the pages may be designed with the customer input to meet a particular requirement.

5 AMI Log / Met Windows GUI Programme
For systems where MPC not desired

6 Nav-IS Main Electronic Unit Standard Output Summary
Serial data outputs to NMEA 0183 version 2.3/3.01 RS422 Buffered, containing log, wind, temperature, humidity and pressure data messages interleaved. Update rate 1Hz. Simulated potentiometer Four user selectable potential free contacts for any combination of 100,200 or 400 pulses per nautical mile. Other outputs can be designed to customers special requirements

7 Nav-IS Main Electronic Unit Inputs
Serial RS422 data inputs to NMEA 0183 version 2.3/3.01 for ships heading (HDT packet) used for the calculation of true and apparent wind speed direction 115V 50/60Hz 150VA Maximum for the system 15V DC power output for wind and other MET sensor supplies. Data inputs from Meteorological sensors as part of the system (3 x digital + 1 x Analogue)

8 Nav-IS Main Electronic Unit Data Formats
Log: The system will also transmit forward, athwartships speed and forward distance with alternative strings in NMEA2.3/3.01 at 1Hz and will be of the form VBW: Dual ground / dual axis water speed, with ground speed set to invalid), VLW: Distance travelled through the water Wind & Met: The system will transmit Wind and meteorological information in NMEA version 2.3 format at 1Hz.

9 Nav-IS Ships Speed Electromagnetic Sensors
Available in either fixed flush mounted (dual axis forward and athwartships in a coffer dam arrangement i.e. no gate valve) or fully in board retractable with a gate valve (single or dual axis forward speed) formats Speed range: -10 to +30 knots (+40 for high speed version) Accuracy: With flush probe after calibration: Forward speed: 0 to 10 Knots: ± 0.2 knots. Above 10 knots: ±2% Athwartships: Typically ±0.25 knots for 0-10 knots * A fin type protruding sensor can also be fitted than will improve accuracy to ±0.1 knot for 0-10 knots and ±1% for speeds above 10 knots.

10 Nav-IS Wind Speed and Direction Sensor
Commercial solid state 316 stainless steel ultrasonic sensor Maintenance free and reliable operation De-icing heaters are built in to provide continued performance at sea under heavy icing conditions. Two sensors are generally recommended to be fitted port & starboard sides with automatic change over to select windward sensor.

11 Nav-IS Wind Speed and Direction Sensor Performance:
Wind speed: 0-65m/s (approx 130knots) Wind speed accuracy: 2, 1% rms typical accuracy to 30 knots Wind direction: 0-359° Accuracy ±2° Resolution 1° Operating Temperature: -40°C to +70°C Humidity: 5% to 100% RH

12 Nav-IS Alternative Low Cost Anemometer
Robust, corrosion free polycarbonate housing ultrasonic sensor Maintenance free and reliable operation NMEA analogue outputs Low power consumption Two sensors are generally recommended to be fitted port & starboard sides with automatic change over to select windward sensor.

13 Nav-IS Alternative Low Cost Anemometer Performance:
Wind speed: 0-60m/s (approx 116 knots) Wind speed accuracy: 12 m/s Resolution 0.01 m/s (0.02 knots) Wind direction: 0-359° Accuracy 12 m/s Resolution 1° Operating Temperature: -40°C to +70°C Humidity: 5% to 100% RH

14 Nav-IS Temperature and Humidity Sensor
Solid state commercial air temperature and air humidity sensor with multi plate radiation shield Radiation shield provides naturally aspirated environment for the sensors to minimise the effects of solar radiation, which is UV stabilised for long term external exposure Dew point is also available (calculated from pressure, temperature and humidity being displayed on the MPC)

15 Nav-IS Temperature and Humidity Sensor Performance:
Temp sensor range: -40 to +70°C Accuracy: ±0.3°C at 25°C (±0.4°C over +5 to +40°C) Humidity Sensor Range: 0-100% Accuracy at 25°C: ±2% RH over 10-90%; ±4% over 0-100% Stability: Better than ±1%RH per year Recommended position: Behind bridge or in walkway in free flow air environment, but semi sheltered away from excessive salt spray

16 Nav-IS Barometric Air Pressure Sensor
Barometric air pressure sensor is mounted inside the Nav-IS Main Electronic Unit Performance: Operating Range: 500 to – 1100hPa Output signal: Serial RS232 / RS485 Accuracy: 0.05% of pressure range (or ±0.2hPa at 25ºC) A vent pipe and adaptor are provided in the Nav-IS enclosure if fitted within an air-conditioned or pressurised ships compartment.

17 Nav-IS Sea Water Temperature Probe Operating Range – -5ºC to +45ºC
Accuracy – ±0.3ºC

18 Nav-IS System Options EM Log only with desired sensor, i.e. fixed flush, retractable with gate valve or fin type, including 10.4” Maritime Panel Computer (MPC) EM Log only with desired sensor excluding 10.4” Maritime Panel Computer but supplied with a GUI program (AGI.exe file that runs on Windows) to enable Log speed and calibration data to be displayed / entered on a PC Note: the Nav-IS has Wheelmark approval for the EM Log supplied with either the MPC or just with the GUI PC program Combined EM log & Meteorological System with MPC Combined EM Log & Meteorological System with the GUI program only and no MPC

19 Nav-IS Advantages of Commercial Nav-IS EN60945 Log and Met System
Competitive EN60945 / EN61023 certified system* designed on proven technology and products that are already in service in many Navies world wide High levels of accuracy Very low maintenance requirements EM Log data as well as Meteorological data is displayed on the same MPC utilising different pages which offers both space and cost savings over dedicated repeaters Complete range of Meteorological sensors including Wind, Air Temperature, Humidity, Air Pressure, Sea Temperature *All testing completed and final Wheelmark certificate expected September 2011.

20 Nav-IS Advantages of Commercial Nav-IS EN60945 Log and Met System
Large range of standard MPC pages for displaying Log, Wind and Meteorological data in both analogue and digital form for no additional cost, which provides space and cost saving benefits in terms of initial and through life costs compared to individual dedicated repeaters Further MPC’s can easily be incorporated into system in order to display the required data in different ship locations, driven from the serial NMEA messages *All testing completed and final Wheelmark certificate expected September 2011.
