1 Integrated Aero Performance Technical Subcommittee Proposal for a Special GARTEUR Paper Session at JPC 2013 or ASM 2014 What is GARTEUR - a brief overview GARTEUR Organisation Fields of activities Achievements Possible scope of a special paper session
2 Integrated Aero Performance Technical Subcommittee What is GARTEUR? A brief overview Organisation for research collaboration in Europe in the field of aeronautics MoU between Governments of 7 European nations with major research and test capabilities in aeronautics Established in 1973 by France, Germany and the UK, in subsequent years joined by the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and Italy Focus is on collaborative research topics mainly aimed at long term R&T Innovative R&T projects for defence and civil applications as well as dual use Participants: Research Establishments, Industry, Academia
3 Integrated Aero Performance Technical Subcommittee Organisation GARTEUR Council: Representatives of member countries Assisted by a Council Executive Committee GARTEUR Groups of Responsables: Scientific management Representatives: RE, industry and academia Four fields of activities AD, FM, HC, SM GARTEUR Action Groups: Technical expert bodies Formulation of research program and execution of research work Participation from at least three GARTEUR countries GARTEUR Exploratory Groups: Investigation of feasibility of potential research subject to establish an agreed proposal
4 Integrated Aero Performance Technical Subcommittee Fields of Activities Aerodynamics (AD): AD is active in experimental, theoretical, analytical and numerical fields of aerodynamics to encourage the developments and applications of methods, tools and procedures for both civil and defense applications. Flight mechanics, Systems and Integration (FM) FM is active in flight testing technologies and flight simulations, investigates air traffic control, sensor technology and systems and human factors. Helicopters (HC) HC is active to facilitate the advancement of civil and military rotorcraft technology, seeks to extend the flight envelope and performance, and to increase safety and survivability. Structures & Materials (SM) SM is active in initiating and organizing aeronautics-oriented research on structures, structural dynamics, and materials.
