2 This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 305532 Market Health Think about your innovation strategy!  It aligns research and work objectives with potential to solve some of today’s most pressing problems;  It proactively captures value from better understanding unmet market needs and possibilities;  It helps identify and mitigate risks;  It motivates involvement of all stakeholders and fosters teamwork and collaboration. -> Build strong teams and maintain this “investment” in human capital -> Clarify and have specific innovation goal(s) -> Communicate early, often and widely -> Be flexible about the innovation strategy preparation, adapt to your needs -> Emphasize the long-term benefits -> Monitor the results

3 This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 305532 Market Health Think about utilization, about commercialisation routes and about business models!  Choose the most suitable commercialization route based on your defined objective  Is there a market of sufficient size to make your business concept feasible and worth the time and effort?  It is not only about facts and figures: what do you as a person want to do?  Do you have the right competences and resources at hand to be able to successfully implement your commercialization route?

4 This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 305532 Market Health Think about intellectual assets and IP!  The objective of protecting IP is to encourage the creation valuable ideas and to facilitate its commercial utilisation -> commercialization  Intellectual property protection is an ethical obligation when the research results require further investment to support utilization and value creation in society  Patents can be extremely powerful business tools and are necessary for any commercialization endeavour. The patent enables its owner to prevent others from making, using, selling or importing the technology or invention claimed in the patent.

5 This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 305532 Market Health Think about business plan and anchor it in the business model  The BP is the detailed description of the relevance and the planned implementation of your business model  The BP is the roadmap that formalizes the reality of the opportunities you address,  The BP is the first promotional tool of your project  The BP formalizes the legitimacy of your business model towards employees, partners, clients, suppliers  The BP is anchored into the business model, meaning it will evolve as the business model evolves.

6 This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 305532 Market Health Think about marketing strategy and its implementation!  Marketing strategy is a process.  Marketing strategy starts with a market study, which can include both simple (e.g., a google search and talking to a knowledgeable friend) and complex tools.  Choosing a target segment is necessary. Choosing also means deciding that you will NOT target some segments.  Understand well all the needs of your target segment(s).  Streamline your actions. Identify a segment the needs of which you can satisfy better than the competition. Build an offer that satisfies exactly those needs.

7 This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 305532 Market Health Think about attraction of funding!  Obtaining private funding can be very difficult, exhaust all public funding opportunities first to develop your innovation as far as possible  Remember that wide panel of private sources is available - make your homework and analyse them!!  Understand the expected return from each private investor  Be prepared to answer tough questions from investors about all aspects of your business
